It is important you look for one with professional credentials.  You should also be very comfortable with the person.  You will be spending a lot of time together planning one of the major rites of passage in your life. There should also be some sort of service agreement in writing.  Usually spelling out fees-payment schdules-services to be rendered.  Each consultant has either a flat rate fee-hourly rate or by the job with a percentage rate at 10% or 15%.
